[提要]  在对照国际发展的背景下，简要地论述了我国地震工程的发展过程。按作者的认识，将之分为创建（五、六十年代）、发展（七、八十年代）和横向发展（九十年代）这三个阶段，论述了各阶段的进展。最后，作者提出了一些问题以及21世纪初期国际和我国的发展趋向。

In a general frame of the development of earthquake engineering in the world, author reviews the 50 years' development of this field in China. According to author's point of view, the development in China
may be reviewed in 3 stages, namely the beginning stage in 1950' s-1960's, the developing stage in
1970's-1980's, and the spreading stage in 1990's. Finally,a few problems of current common interest
and the possible trend of development in the early next century are raised.
