[提要]  简要回顾了我国建筑结构可靠性设计的历史沿革，介绍了以概率为基础的极限状态设计方法的基本原则和可靠度水准的设置依据，以及这一设计方法在国际上的发展情况，澄清了一些模糊认识，同时对该方法与日渐兴起的“以性能为基础”的建筑结构设计之间的关系提出了作者的思考。

This paper reviews the history for the reliability design of building structures of our country. Basic principles of the probability based limit state design method and relialoility levels of building structures are introduced. The development of this method in the world is also mentioned. Some fuzzy view points have been cleared away. Finally, the relationship between probability based method and performance based method has loeen discussed.
