[提要]  在已有试验研究成果及工程设计经验基础上，深入浅出地介绍了新颁布的《砌体结构设计规范》( GB50003-2001)第六章涉及的砌体结构墙、柱的高厚比整体稳定性措施、房屋的防裂抗裂措施的条文背景，并给出相应的建议或示例，供设计人员参考。

Based on experiences and the testing results,the relevant provlsions on measures for stability/entirety and cracking control of masonry members are added and enhanced in chapter 6 of Code for Design of Masonry Structures (GB50003). For engineer to understand and use the provisions, the background of the works with examples is introduced.
