Abstract: The cohesive zone model (CZM) was used to study the mechanical behavior and cracking displacement of the bolted glulam beam⁃to⁃column joints with slotted⁃in steel plates under monotonic loading through means of numerical simulation. In the CZM, the cross⁃grain tensile strength and along⁃grain shear strength of the glulam beam⁃to⁃column joints were simulated through three different modes: cross⁃grain tensile failure (model Ⅰ), along⁃grain shear failure (model Ⅱ) and the mixed failure model of them (model m). The results show that when the loading displacement reaches 1 2Δ~ 1 6Δ (Δ= 90 mm), the upper part of the glulam beam⁃to⁃column joints will undergo transverse splitting and failure along the line of the two rows of bolts in the direction of the glulam grain. The numerical simulation results and the existing experimental results were compared and analyzed, and it is found that the two are in good agreement, which proves that CZM has good applicability in simulating the mechanical behavior and cracking displacement of glulam beam⁃column joints.
